Don't Forget Daddy by Theresa Franklin is a delightful book to read to any young child experiencing change in the family dynamics whether it is through divorce, remarriage or the death of a parent, especially in respect to loss of a father.

Author Theresa Franklin, writes with heartfelt compassion by addressing these delicate subjects in a creative way that will help identify any feelings that a child may be holding on to in their emotions. By opening up the lines of communication, this book will allow a child going through similar circumstances to be able to share their feelings. This book offers wonderful solutions to any young child on how to cope with the change in the family.

The short story opens with Ashley, a young child, sitting and conversing with a man who has become mommy's friend. There's lots of free advertisement available online. You can spend endless hours signing guest books, registering at this site and that site, joining directories that promises thousands of hits, link to this blog and link to that blog and all for free. However, after 10 or 20 hours of doing this, what have you accomplished. Truth is even if people come to your site or blog, your site and the content is what keeps them there.

My suggestion is that before you start linking your blog to other blogs and going through the process of the above. First, create some great content on your blog for you're visitors to read. Make sure that you have your blog filled with content and then consider marketing, advertising or sharing you're blog.

While I would definitely take advantage of free advertising, marketing, links exchanges, and all those goodies. If you are offering products or services, I encourage you to also have a marketing plan that includes paid ads that targets specific areas online.

The bottom line is this. If you are trying to sell a product or a services, you are going to have to spend money to advertise those products and services.

Well I continue to read the latest news reports on the swine flu. It seems that as the summer is coming to an end, more and more cases of the sine flu are starting to come forth with children being hit the hardest. The new vaccines that were suppose to be ready are behind dramatically from the numbers that were hope for and it seems that the President has just made some changes in hopes that people that become sick with the swine flu can get immediate medical attention without all the red tape involved if they don't have insurance or medical insurance.

As with most of the posts that I have written on this subject, I simply want to encourage our readers to stay informed about this and become educated on the best ways to protect you and your family from potentially catching the swine flu. Sometimes when we are on the right path, things are progressing and moving along well. We are excited, having fun, and filled with expectations and joy. Then all the sudden we take the wrong off ramp of the freeway and get side tracked. Many times it's other people that even show us that off ramp. Yet there we are somewhat stuck. When this happens, we need to get back on course, complete the race and complete the projects that we started. It's easy to see when this has happened. Our joy is gone.

Always complete what you started, especially when you were having so much fun doing it in the first place. And if all the sudden you take the wrong off ramp and everything falls apart. Just try to get back on track and redeem the situation.

Children love to play, love to watch cartoons and love fantasy. It's really cute to watch a child play make believe and some are extremely gifted at it. As the seasons of life go by children grow up and become more mature. They build character and also start living life more responsibly.

Thank God for the adult authors who have held onto that creative part of their childhood. That ability to write children's stories that captivate children. Just imagine a child's life without stories, without adventure, and without fantasy.

Sometimes I think we should all be more like children at times and enjoy life.

True Colors

Have you ever noticed how sometimes people's true colors shine through and the colors are the complete opposite of what they wanted you and others to think about them? Only to realize that you have been handed a continuous flow of deception and lies? It amazes me how some people use and abuse others basically to make up for their own miserable worthless lives. Many times you can even see the fruits of such people in their children do to the dysfunctional family and dysfunctional family lifestyle. It's sad because their lives are filled with endless scares, headaches, and metal illnesses and the affects upon the children lead to emotional problems, anger management problems, guilt, shame, embarrassments, and they become disconnected from reality.

Know this, they do not go un noticed and while they think they have pulled the wool over the eye's of many, in time, they will be exposed. You see, those who cast evil and wickedness upon others in the end become ensnared in their own ways. Life becomes endlessly painful for them, they continue to encounter emotional, mental and even health problems that soon overtake them. It's really sad to see a life and the lives of others waste away and decay like that. It's a long, slow and very painful death, yet death is withheld from them.

There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.

The Pursuit Of Success

The pursuit of success can take on many shapes and forms. Usually a thought comes forth, an idea. Then that thought or idea is put into motion. Very much like planting seeds in the ground. The seeds must be good seeds, the soil must be good soil and the process requires patience for growth.

The key is not quitting after you've cultivated the soil and planted the seeds. If fear of failure sets in and you walk away, the weeds may grow up and destroy your harvest.

Never give up on your dreams, don't change course in mid stream and be careful of people that stick their nose in your river. For they may end up like beavers that create dams and stop the rivers flow.

Sometimes we all seem to give up and quit just a tad too soon. It's like the sardines vs. the tuna. We plan our game plan, put things into motion and then right about the time it's time to set sail, we give in and quit. Sad. Other times we do all our homework, put our plans into motion and start bragging about our accomplishments before we win the race only to give up because something fell short of our desires. The reality is that success is staying the course and finishing what we set out to do.

Now who would want a bucket of sardines when you could have some huge nets filled with tuna? Imagine the captain of a ship setting sail for a big catch, for tons of tuna only to set anchor just outside the break water. Can you see the sea gulls feasting on the spoiled sardines? Many times that is exactly what we do. Rather than staying the course and sometimes even facing our fears, we throw in the towel.

There is more to writing sayings that pushing them or selling them to others. You must live them. Otherwise your flame burns out.

He was speaking as if to a large crowd. In front of the man were rows and rows of chairs. The chairs were all empty, yet the man continued with his speech as if all the chairs had people sitting in them. The man was speaking and teaching to empty chairs. It was only a dream.

In the summer of 1905, on the shores of central California, the fishing town of Monterey, suffered a very great economic blow.

Monterey is a picturesque community, 100 miles south of San Francisco. It is situated on the great Monterey Bay.

The Monterey Bay, gave to the city of Monterey all the bounty of the ocean. For decades Monterey fishermen brought back the fruit of the sea, the fish, that fed millions of people in America.

The backbone of this great fishery, and therefore of the economy in Monterey, was the annual catch of sardines.

These sardines were captured, brought to port, and then to Cannery Row – a row of fish canning operations lining the Monterey beach. There, of course, the sardines were packed into silver cans, wrapped in a red and black paper seal declaring them to be high-quality sardines from Monterey, California. They were then shipped throughout America and the world.

And the economy was good.

But, in the summer of 1905, something terrible happened. An economic disaster of unprecedented proportions happened to this bustling fishing town.

The disaster was this: the fishermen and their many boats, and many employees, simply over fished the sardine population. They did it to such a degree, that the sardines couldn’t reproduce their stock – and, suddenly, sardines simply disappeared from the fisherman’s nets! They were gone! And with them, were also, apparent to everyone, the good times for people in Monterey.

But – and this is a very important but – this was not the end of the story. A very great and ominous disaster had happened on their watch, but now something wondrous and hopeful, also took place on their watch.

Here is what, actually, happened: first, the people of Monterey and their churches, prayed. Now, whether you believe in prayer or not, that is secondary to the story. My duty is just to give hope and tell you how the story turned out, in actual history.

Most of the ship owners in Monterey doubled as their own ship captains. There were no big corporate fleets. It was mostly private fishermen who had built their fishing business to the level of having a ship or two, and going out daily and bringing the fish back. They worked hard at it, and they became better and better at what they did, and therefore became more and more successful.

But the sea had always helped them. Now that the sardines were gone, what next? What would happen to the economy, to the ship owners and captains, and to all the crews and their families?

The captains of the ships talked among themselves. As they talked, they told tales that they had heard long ago, about schools of great fish, that a Monterey fisherman and his ship and crew had once found.

But, these great fish, which were only known by the thin thread of perhaps a tall tale, were caught as far out as 200 miles from the shore! No Monterey fisherman and his crew, at least for decades, had gone beyond 20 miles!

No one ever dared to go that far! It had not yet entered the imagination of the people.

They had the vessels for it, and the crews. Now what they needed was some bold and intrepid captains, who would dare to go farther into deeper waters, than anyone ever had before.

And, in a true to life story, several believing captains, with their valiant ships and willing crews, set out to find out if the tales of these great fish had any truth to them.

They went fifty miles. Then eighty miles. Then over a hundred miles. But approximately one hundred and fifty miles out, they saw “boiling water” – a strange occurrence on the surface of the water that far out in the middle of the sea.

The captains and their crews, decided to fish these “boiling waters.” For their efforts, they began to pull in yellowfin tuna anywhere from 100 to 300 pounds! And there was no end to them!

Now, dear reader, understand that until this date in history, no one in the entire world had ever eaten tuna. Well, maybe some long ago sea captain and his crew had. But for the most part, tuna had never been known before. It had never been seen or eaten!

So, the intrepid sea captains and their fishermen returned home to Monterey with great good news – and a big load of great fish!

Think about it. Sardines were only 4 to 8 inches long, and now the fishermen replaced them with tuna that were 4-8 feet long! The sardines weighed a half-pound at best, and the tuna weighed up to three hundred pounds. In fact, later, as fishermen found the will to go farther, they caught bluefin tuna, that weighed up to 1500 pounds!

Thus, by being willing to go further than anyone had gone before ,and by choosing to act in new ways rather than just sit and suffer, although the economy went down with the sardines – now it went up with the tuna! Following what might have been just a tall story by an old salt, turned out to give the people of Monterey a true, and much greater, story. They introduced tuna and tuna fishing to the world. Their ships got bigger. Their crews got paid more. More tourists came to Monterey. The little bustling fishing didn’t go down with the sardines!

Somehow, the town, its people, and its economy all got a new lease on life. They grew. They prospered. And – they fed the whole world to a far greater degree.

In that summer day of 1905, when the sardine stock fell and the bottom dropped out of the sardine business, it shook everybody up. But, they said their prayers, decided to go further than ever before, chose to “seek a greater story” – and, however combined elements made it happen – tuna, much larger than sardines, and a tuna catch, much greater than the total sardine catch had ever achieved, was brought into the history, and to the palates, of the entire world.

The economy recovered and boomed.

My friends, could it be possible that right now, this very day, that even as you experience the loss of something you long felt secure and that you built your hopes on, just a little farther ahead, with a little willingness to keep your chin and morale up, exploring a little further, pursuing a greater, not lesser, story for you and yours, we might ourselves see our “sardines” not just gone, but our own kind of new, far greater, “tuna” right in front of us replacing our loss with something much better?

I believe that people with the American dream, don’t just get better dreams. They get a better story. It comes complete with the faith, the new vision, the will to try, the solid meat of the fish, the adventures, and the tale to tell all our children about.

The measure of something great is that greater things still come out of it.

Say your prayers, stoke the embers of your dreams and visions. Listen to wise stories. Make your minds and ships go further into the ocean of the Spirit – and I believe either you yourself, or some intrepid captains, are going to come back with the equivalent of boatloads of silver tuna in our time – together with directions how you can get a lot more of them.

Chasing Dreams

We all have dreams and encounter dreams. That desire to be successful, excel, accomplish great things and off course the recognition that comes with such. Within such we see beyond who we are, what our capabilities are and create pictures and thoughts full of great hopes and expectations. Seems fair enough.

Yet sometimes within such we get off course, start seeking things way beyond us and miss the road and path along the way.

Game plans are essential in accomplishing great things. Yet just as important, one must stick to the game plan, stay in the boat and travel the course of the river.

Ponds of great accomplishments and notoriety can sometimes turn out to be side tracking stagnant waters. Meanwhile all the logs are flowing down the river in the flow with the current while we get stuck in ponds that we created, and that were not a part of the original game plan.

If one makes a list of to do's as a game plan, keeps adding new adventures, new ideas, new projects and refuses to stay the course of the original game plan, always adding new challenges, new ideas, new dreams while going off in endless directions. Nothing gets accomplished other than chasing delusions of grandure.

You see the current of the river only goes one way.

Things look very bad.

In August of 2006 Mr. Zehnder’s Church called him to a 40-day prayer fast vigil.

He traveled to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. There an astounding thing happened – he began writing sayings.

In the first two weeks he wrote 800 sayings. In the next two weeks he wrote 1,200 more. In the next ten days he wrote 1,000 more. In the next two days he wrote 1,000 more or a total of 4,000 sayings in 40 days.

That’s quite an accomplishment. Yet even more remarkable is the fact that no two sayings are alike.

Mr. Zehnder then went on to write 1,000 more a month. Mr. Zehnder calls this “Reaching language fusion” explaining that, “Creative language fusion happens when you keep getting more out, than you put in.” To date Mr. Zehnder’s personal library of sayings consists of over 12,000 sayings.

That’s a lot of sayings!

Mr. Zehnder says, “What is going to be possible for willing people to do in reality is going to hugely increase.” He says, “If you read a few, you will be entertained; but if you keep reading, you’ll put yourself on the path to much greater things in life.”

He says, “He met the Spirit of God there in those mountains.”

But on the other hand, it is of scientific note, and literary note: Just to give you a comparison, only three people have written 4,000 sayings in their lifetime – Solomon, Shakespeare, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
